Holy Week
The culmination of the church year happens during this week in the great Three Days. These days trace Jesus’ passion, death, burial, and resurrection. They begin on Thursday at sundown, and conclude on Sunday evening. Though it unfolds over an entire week, this worship is considered to be one extended liturgy.
Maundy Thursday 4/18/2019:Good Shepherd offers services at 12 noon and 7pm. The evening service remembers the giving of the Great Commandment with a shared meal, footwashing, prayer stations, and finally, the stripping of the altar.
Good Friday 4/19/2019: We offer two Good Friday service: an ecumenical service at 12 noon at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, and a 7pm Tenebrae services, in which we trace the story of the Passion in a meditative service of lengthening
Holy Saturday: Good Shepherd does not offer a Saturday vigil, but encourages attendance at one of our neighboring congregations. St. Stephen’s Episcopal (Westborough) and Trinity Lutheran (Worcester) offer a 7pm Vigil.
Easter 4/21/2019: We celebrate the Easter dawn with a modified Vigil at 7am, followed by festive Easter worship at 9am and 11am.
